Firefly simulation

This is a model that I made, using JavaScript, of fireflies flashing synchronously.  I read this cool book called Sync, by Steven Strogatz. In it he talks about some species of fireflies that sync up when they flash. We don’t really know why they do it, but there are lots of theories. I’m really curious about why they evolved this ability. I liked learning about it because I like electricity and it makes me feel like the fireflies are little robots with oscillators in them. It’s cool that they evolved something that feels so much like technology.
